It seems that Keira's stalwart refusal to submit to digital cleavage enhancement has set the media ablaze this week. Judging by the billions of people who have visited here today, you're all quite the whore for a keira/boob story. Well, according to a Daily Mail article (that bastion of tabloid quality) Keira has refused to have any retouching done on publicity pictures for her new movie The Duchess. I don't usually have my pickle tickled enough to quote the Daily Mail but it says:
"Studio bosses wanted to make the slender actress appear more shapely, but Keira refused to have a cleavage drawn on shots. Keira Knightley refused to be airbrushed in publicity pictures for The Duchess
‘She has insisted that her figure stay in its natural state,’ says a source.
‘She is proud of her body and doesn’t want it altered.’
The Pirates Of The Caribbean star was famously enhanced in posters for her 2004 film King Arthur. In Europe, they showed the Chanel model as nature intended, but, in the US, Keira had an ample bosom.

She said her apparent curves in the film were achieved by make-up.
There is no such illusion in The Duchess.
Adds my source: ‘She looks flat-chested in the whole movie.’"
So there we go. More entertaining is the sheer barrage of emails we received today about this matter. Here's some of the more sober ones:

It may be a while before we see Keira in another big Hollywood blockbuster hit. She has now vowed to continue working on smaller, British films.
"What’s wonderful about being an actor is I've had the opportunity to do ridiculously huge piratical adventures and then do something that's much smaller and intimate," Knightley told Digital Spy, referring to her new film The Edge Of Love in which she stars with Sienna Miller.
"I want to carry on making British films, but the industry here is absolutely tiny," the Atonement actress continued. "There's definitely more work over in America. I think it’s important if you have a profile that can help get British films made then that’s what you do. It’s my culture, it’s where I’m from, so the stories are always going to mean more."

KKW Summer Party!

Two bits of news of grave importance today. One involving the opportunity to drink with fine ladies, the other involving a fine lady who loves the opportunity to drink. All will become clear soon; hold on to your tentpegs.
It's with great pleasure that I can announce that the fourth OMGWTFKKWBBQ has been scheduled for Saturday 9th August from 5pm onwards. The venue will be The Cricketers in Richmond, London.
For those who don't know the drill, the semi-annual KKW BBQ is where we all get together on a summer's afternoon and drink until we're all as attractive as Keira. This usually takes quite a long time so there's plenty of opportunity for laughs along the way. What started as a BBQ turned into a Grill and now just, well... drinking and dinner. The event is open to everyone reading this, even you! What's more, it's free! (although you do have to buy your own drinks and food!) It's always a day to remember, so come along if you're in London. A forum thread exists with more information and directions.
Now for some equally life-threatening news.
 It's been a long time coming but we'd like to invite you to join us in finally welcoming Mandy to the team of administrators here on keiraknightley.com - her unrelenting work and dedication to the website and community over the last few years has put the rest of us to shame.
As is customary for new admins we'd like to let you know that Mandy will be tied naked to the tree outside the KKW office from 9am tomorrow until next tuesday. Tomatoes can be purchased for 30p from Liam's Veg Shack on the corner opposite.

There isn't all that much news flowing our way this moment but look out for the September 2008 issue of Vogue which apparently Keira is set to be on.
Also, do you remember that green shiny dress Keira wore in Atonement that everyone went bonkers for? Its now in a new exhibit at Universal Studios Hollywood. Splendid!

Right, forgive the buggery and mischief in the galleries. There were some slight technical difficulties however we did get all those nasty june bugs and stink bugs out and offer a load of tremendous updates!
The Edge of Love opened over the weekend in the UK and raked in a whoppin' £181,000...just in London! She looked smashing as usual, but there are always going to be overweight, disfigured and terribly jealous people working an unforgiving job at the Daily Mail who think otherwise.
Keira and Sienna also paired up at the 62nd Edinburgh Film Festival to promote The EoL (and Sienna needed an excuse to wear that silly hat). Here's a lovely video from the festival.

 Oops, this was supposed to be rolled-out yesterday. In time-honoured tradition we have to post this image once every year. Some people say he's older than Yoda. Others claim that his existence predates the universe itself. Here at KKW we prefer to think that he's just one year closer to being thrown into a tar pit. So there we go. Happy birthday to the admin we love to hate...

Keira Knightley has moved to France to be closer to her boyfriend. The 'Atonement' actress has joined actor Rupert Friend in Paris - where he is currently filming new movie 'Cheri' alongside Michelle Pfeiffer - so they can spend more time together.
A source said: "Keira was missing Rupert. She decided to give herself a break because last year she was so busy. Rupert, however, has been working on movies back-to-back.
Some people on set have been joking that Keira wants to keep an eye on him because he has some love scenes with Michelle but Rupert and Keira are very happy." Friends say the couple - who have been dating since 2004 - experienced a rocky patch in their romance earlier this year over Rupert's hectic schedule but they are now happier than ever.
The source added: "They seem to be getting on a lot better. Keira is cooking for him and looking after him."
